Cal State San Marcos will host Super STEM Saturday this Saturday, a free science festival featuring more than 130 hands-on, interactive activities and demonstrations.

Visitors can build and launch rockets, observe the surface of the sun, and explore how "chemistry is better than magic."

"What we take away from our childhood is truly meaningful to the paths we choose as adults," said Simon Kuo, vice president of corporate quality for Viasat, one of the event’s lead sponsors. "That’s why we believe it’s important to expose children to science and technology, helping them appreciate these fields and possibly inspiring careers in STEM."

The festival will take place rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is open to children of all ages.

"Super STEM Saturday is a powerful event," said Jackie Trischman, dean of the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics at CSUSM. "I want our community to see someone who looks like them having fun with science. It’s also a chance to unite our community and celebrate the impact science has on our daily lives."

Cal State San Marcos is located at 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road, with activities spread across campus. Parking is free in lots E, F, and H.
