Head Coach Mascherano, Messi, Segovia, and Silvetti Named to MLS Team of the Matchday

Inter Miami CF head coach Javier Mascherano, captain Leo Messi, midfielder Telasco Segovia, and attacker Mateo Silvetti have been named to the Major League Soccer (MLS) Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for week 2 of the 2026 regular season. The three players and coach earned TOTM honors after playing key roles in Inter Miami’s 4-2 comeback victory on the road against rivals Orlando City SC on Sunday night.

Mascherano leads the Team of the Matchday for the first time this season after guiding Inter Miami to a crucial away win at Orlando City SC. Trailing 2-0 at halftime, El Jefe made substitutions and adjusted the team’s formation, sparking a turnaround that secured a memorable result—the club’s first road victory over its rivals.

Club captain Messi earned his spot on the TOTM with another influential performance. The Argentine maestro scored two spectacular goals: a long-range strike in the 57th minute and a free kick to the bottom-left corner in the 90th minute, both pivotal in sealing the thrilling comeback.

Segovia was also a key figure in the Orlando victory, earning a spot on the TOTM. The Venezuelan midfielder provided assists for Silvetti and Messi on the first two goals, then scored the team’s third goal in the 85th minute with a curling shot to the far post from inside the box, giving Inter Miami a 3-2 lead.

Finally, Silvetti earned TOTM recognition after sparking the comeback. The young attacker was subbed in at halftime with the team down 2-0 and quickly scored a mid-range goal in the 49th minute, marking Inter Miami’s first goal of the match and the 2026 regular season.
